It symbolizes destruction and fear and its only purpose in life is to track down books and kill anyone who stands in its way. It also represents how society is against Montag because it also feels like books are harmful. *
Fire- Represents complete destruction to all of society, along with the extinction of all books known to man kind. It symbolizes the purpose of fireman which is actually ironic due to the fact that fire is meant to be lit out by firemen but in the novel it's used to burn books in flames. It also symbolizes both the phoenix and Salamander, for both of them in mythology are believed to be creatures of fire. *
Books- Symbolizes what many in society despise in life, and destruction. Their only purpose is to be burned to ashes by fireman, and become soon extinct. They symbolize to some as a new world full of piece and adventure when read, in order to escape the dysfunctional society. *
